ST. Matthew Church's food ministry is dedicated to addressing food insecurity by providing nutritious food and essential household items to individuals, families, senior citizens, veterans, and others facing financial hardship throughout Graham and Alamance County. Our ministry is committed to serving every person with dignity, compassion, and respect. Through regular food distributions, emergency food assistance, and community partnerships, we provide nonperishable food, fresh produce, meat, diary products, and other essential items to help families meet their basic nutritional needs. In addition to food assistance, our ministry connects individuals with other supportive resources, including health and wellness education, nutrition information, and referrals to local community agencies. During the year, we also host special outreach events such as holiday meal distributions, back to school programs, and our Community Fall Festival, ensuring that families have access to food and other essential resources during times of greatest need.
Our goal is to reduce hunger, strengthen families, support senior citizens living on fixed incomes, and provide hope to those experiencing difficult circumstances. Through the love of Christ and the generosity of our community partners, St. Matthew AME church strives to create a healthier, stronger, and more caring community when no family has to face hunger alone. The most valuable support would include donations of shelf-stable food, fresh produce, hygiene products, baby care items, and school supplies.
Please call before you come. We can also pick up locally.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
