We recommend calling or emailing the pantry ahead of time to be sure their days/hours of operation have not changed.

The Columbia Dream Center

Our goal is to meet tangible needs while empowering our community to live out their God given dreams. We take food into low income neighborhoods once a month with intention of going weekly once we get enough resources. Once a month we host block parties in 4 different locations and give away a bag of groceries along with a free cookout. We also connect them with local resources. Anyone is welcome to receive the food, we typically serve around 100 families a month through the different locations. (around 30-40 families per site.

We also give out snacks to people who are experiencing homelessness. Fresh produce has been one of our biggest requests. We would love to add fresh produce to both the block parties as well as produce we can give to people experiencing homelessness. (think things that can be eaten

ProducePedia

ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
