We have a food pantry at our location and also provide toiletries and household items as they are available. Each month, we serve approximately 75–90 individuals and families of various ages, backgrounds, nationalities, and household sizes. One of our greatest needs is access to healthier, fresh foods. Items such as fresh produce, vegetables, eggs, milk, and meat are typically items we must purchase ourselves. Because of budget limitations, we are not always able to provide them consistently, which means many of the families we serve receive mostly canned and boxed foods. We also operate our Treehouse Kids after-school program, which provides children with a safe and encouraging environment for character-building, music, mentoring, recreation, and spiritual development.
We would love greater community support in helping us provide both nutritious food for families and meaningful opportunities for children to grow and thrive.
We are open Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm (closed from 12pm-1pm for lunch). We are also able to arrange pick-up for the food if that is easier!
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
