TOPSS is a pantry and social services agency dedicated to supporting individuals and families in the Talawanda School District and surrounding areas. We provide weekly groceries to those in need, ensuring access to nutritious food and essential items. Beyond food assistance, TOPSS connects people with vital social services, offering resources and support to help our community thrive. Our mission is to meet basic needs with compassion while empowering individuals toward long-term stability and success.
TOPSS accepts donations Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday between 10 am and 6 pm in building #1, which is the building closest to the street. You can come in the front door or side door by the dock. The side door has a ramp to bring out carts for donations if the donation is large.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
