Union Mission Ministries Welcome to Union Mission Ministries Family Services and Outreach. By partnering with our organization, you are a part of our community of individuals and organizations committed to fighting hunger and providing food assistance to those in need. Basic Requirements • Agencies seeking partnership with Union Mission Ministries should be focused on serving an average population of at least 20 persons consisting of the ill, needy, infants, and senior citizens. • Agencies need to be in one of the 55 counties of the state of WV. • Each agency must have a valid and current IRS 501c3 designation. Only authorized agencies including churches, social service organizations, licensed non-profit daycares, senior centers, group homes, shelters, and soup kitchens may qualify for partnership with Union Mission Ministries INC.
A copy of this letter, along with the letter of designation from the IRS will be kept on file at UMM inc. • Agencies must comply with non-discrimination regulations set forth by the USDA • Agencies may not require a client to attend a religious meeting or require a client to make a statement of faith or perform a service to receive goods. • Agencies are required to notify us if the program/pantry changes physical location or principal personnel or undergoes any significant changes in nature and/ or character of its services, using the Agency Change of Contact Information Form. • Agencies may establish their own criteria for the individuals they serve, however, the criteria must be approved by, consistent with, and not in conflict with UMM inc. Food storage and distribution • Agencies must have proper and adequate climate-controlled physical storage area, with refrigerator and/or freezer capability if distributing refrigerated or frozen food. • Agencies cannot store food in a residence. • Agencies should have a sign listing days and hours of distribution outside of the building or • Agencies shall operate regularly during scheduled hours and be open at least once per week. • Agencies are not permitted to sell, barter, or exchange food or non-food products directly, or place service or monetary requirements for meals, food, or non-food items or products. Food must be given to clients free of charge, with absolutely no conditions levied or implied. Monthly Reporting and Record Keeping • Agencies should keep accurate records of clients served and report the numbers by the 5th of each month to UMM inc. • Agencies should track the number of new clients monthly. • Accurate records must be kept. Food Safety Guidelines • Agency must meet safe food storage and handling requirements based on the agency’s local health department guidelines. • Agency is required to have adequate refrigeration and storage space for the services it provides. • Agency shall provide transportation to pick up food and have necessary cooling devices to transport refrigerated/frozen goods for long distances in a safe manner. • Agency must keep area where food is stored free of rodents and pests. Our ministry serves 12-20 individuals a day. These people are served based off the number of individuals in their family. Larger families receive bigger portions. Our agency has a men's addiction recovery program that is currently serving about 20 men three meals a day. Also, we have a men's homeless shelter that is currently housing about 30 men daily. We are on the frontlines battle of addiction and homelessness in the start of WV.
