Unity Baskets Food Pantry

Unity Baskets Food Pantry is a community-centered food pantry program of Unity Bridge Foundation Inc., created to serve individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in Nash and Edgecombe Counties. We exist to ensure that no family in our community has to choose between paying a bill and putting food on the table. We serve a diverse population that includes working families, single-parent households, seniors on fixed incomes, veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, and families with young children. Many of the households we support are doing their best to stay afloat but are facing rising food costs, job instability, or unexpected emergencies. We also welcome and serve individuals from all backgrounds with dignity and respect. Currently, we are preparing to serve 50+ families weekly, with that number expected to grow as awareness increases and needs continue to rise in our area.

For many of these families, Unity Baskets is not just supplemental help — it is a vital resource that helps stretch limited budgets and prevent hunger. We are especially passionate about providing healthy, nourishing food options. We LOVE fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, dairy products, whole grains, and low-sodium canned goods. Shelf-stable items such as rice, pasta, beans, peanut butter, canned meats, and boxed meals are always appreciated. We also gratefully accept culturally inclusive donations, including vegetarian options and other dietary-sensitive foods when available. Beyond food, there is also a strong need for toiletries and personal care items. Soap, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, feminine hygiene products, diapers, baby wipes, and toilet paper are essential items that cannot be purchased with SNAP benefits and are often overlooked but deeply needed. Unity Baskets is built on compassion, partnership, and community collaboration. Every donation — whether food, hygiene products, financial support, or volunteer time — directly impacts a family right here in our community. Together, we can ensure that our neighbors experience not just relief, but hope. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and for a community that believes no one should go hungry.

State Cooperative Extension Web Sites

The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
