# How to Donate Your Garden Harvest ### Urban Harvest Exchange Thank you for sharing your garden's abundance! Your donation helps provide fresh, healthy produce to our community while reducing food waste. ## What We Accept We welcome fresh, homegrown: * Vegetables * Fruits * Herbs * Edible flowers * Tree fruit * Grapes Please donate produce that is clean, fresh, and something you would be proud to serve your own family. ## Before You Harvest * Pick produce at peak ripeness. * Remove damaged or spoiled items. * Gently brush off excess soil (washing is optional). * Harvest during the cool morning hours whenever possible. ## Packaging * Use clean boxes, paper bags, reusable containers, or produce bags. * Separate different crops when possible. * Avoid overfilling containers to prevent bruising. ## Where to Donate Bring your donation to the **Urban Harvest Exchange Sharing Tables** at **Tacoma Urban Farm**. The sharing tables are available **24 hours a day, 7 days a week**, making it easy to donate whenever it's convenient for you. ## Large Donations If you have a large harvest, fruit tree, vineyard, or produce from a community garden, please contact us in advance. We may be able to arrange volunteers to help harvest and transport your donation through our Gleaning Program. ## Garden Gleaning Have more fruit than you can use? Register your fruit tree or grapevine **about two weeks before the fruit is ripe**. This allows us to: * Visit your property and assess ripeness. * Estimate the harvest date. * Determine the number of volunteers needed. * Bring the right tools, ladders, and harvest bins. ## Help Us Reduce Food Waste Every tomato, zucchini, apple, bean, pepper, or bunch of herbs helps feed our neighbors instead of ending up in the compost or landfill.
