Our pantry in Greer SC distributes frozen meats, fresh vegetables/fruits, bread, canned and dry goods every Saturday of every week. Clients come from far away counties and NC routinely, between 40-70 families per week. Anyone, no requirements, can show up to get registered at 8AM, Saturdays. A short devotion is given prior to distribution.
Clothes Closet; Every second Saturday of the month, we open our free clothing store for pantry attendees.
It is arranged in department sections for adults, kids, male, female. You can choose a set number of free items. Get your pass from the food pantry staff, 8:00 AM, Saturdays.
Signs in the parking lot direct you to the rear for Food Pantry.
Any donations are appreciated. For fresh items, please bring them between 7:30 AM to 9:15 AM on Saturdays. For canned goods, non perishable items, you can leave them 24/7 in the blue shopping carts located in the rear entrance of the church social hall wing.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
