Open six days a week, the West Side Food Pantry is a volunteer-run food pantry based in Moscow, Idaho, that feeds approximately 2,000 adults, children, and seniors each month. To make this possible, we are supported by the generosity of our local citizens and business, and we have partnered with the Idaho Food Bank, the Moscow Target, and the Pullman Rosauers.
Fresh, uncut produce is greatly appreciated, as are chicken eggs and any raw meat that has been processed in a commercial facility, frozen, and labeled with the processing date.
We have a small but mighty team, so we would greatly appreciate scheduling any donations at least a day in advance so we can make sure there are enough hands to greet you.
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
