WVCS is a non profit agency serving the Communities of West San Jose, Monte Sereno, Los Gatos, Saratoga & Cupertino in the Bay Area. We have two Markets - one at our headquarters in Cupertino and another - a custom food truck - that goes to senior living centers and elementary schools for families to shop FOR FREE donated foods from local Farmers Markets & Donor Stores.
Donation hours are from 9 AM - 4 PM. Please park near the 2nd set of canopies just past the main doors. A volunteer will come and receive your donation and give you a receipt if you wish. We also are partners with Village Harvest, who will come to your house and pick your fruit for you! Please contact them @ villageharvest.org
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
