We are a USDA Provider and an equal opportunity food pantry. We serve all people in Harrison County Iowa. A friendly, non-judgmental volunteer will help you fill out an intake form that lets us know a little bit about yourself to help meet your needs. There is no income limit to visit the pantry once a month. For those at a certain income level, we fill out a USDA form that will allow you to receive extra items such as meat and dairy products anytime the pantry is open. The pantry tries to maintain an inventory of basic non-perishable food pantry supplies, USDA food supplies including meat and dairy, and seasonal garden donations.
We also have basic hygiene supplies such as shampoo, toilet paper, tooth brushes/paste, and soaps. We will provide small boxes or plastic bags to pack your food or you can bring reusable grocery bags.
We are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm. For emergency food needs, please contact Woodbine's Main Street office at 712-647-3434
ProducePedia
ProducePedia is a free resource that covers the types of fresh produce that can be delivered to food pantries. Each entry includes information on color, taste, and possible uses. People unfamiliar with the vegetable or fruit will learn how to use it, and those who are familiar with it still might learn a fun fact or two!
The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
