Youth Pride, Inc’s mission is to meet the unique and ongoing needs of youth and young adults impacted by sexual orientation ands gender identity/expression through advocacy, support, and empowerment to bring about social change. We are the only statewide non-profit organization that provides services and opportunities necessary for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth and young adults to live full, healthy lives and to eliminate society’s bias and bigotry directed towards LGBTQ individuals.
Youth Pride, Inc serves over 700 Rhode Island LGBTQ youth and their straight allies through a variety of programs and services. One of which is our Basic Needs Pantry. We hosts a small community pantry that serves over 500 youth each year. The pantry is open three days a week for youth in need off food, clothes, toiletries, and/or school supplies. The Cooperative Extension sites have a wealth of information for any backyard gardener. Once you go to the site (each one if very different from the others) look for a link for “homes and gardens”, “landscape”, “consumer horticulture”, etc. to find information on improving your backyard garden. Neighboring state sites may offer information your own state’s site lacks.
